Draft: under legal reviewThis text is a draft that our lawyer is still reviewing. It is not in effect yet and may change before Chat7 launches.

Terms of service

Draft prepared October 2026

Effective date: [DATE]

These terms are an agreement between you and Managed Softwares LLC ("we", "us"), [POSTAL ADDRESS], the maker of Chat7. They cover the Chat7 apps, the getchat7.com website and the related services (together, "Chat7"). By creating an account you accept these terms, our Privacy Policy and our Acceptable Use Policy.

1. Who can use Chat7

  • You must be 18 or older.
  • You need a mobile phone number from the United States or Canada that you are authorised to use.
  • You may not use Chat7 if you have been banned from it, or if the law forbids you from using it.
  • One person, one account. You are responsible for what happens on your account and your linked devices.

2. Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users

There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour on Chat7. You must not post, send or share content, or act, in any way that breaks the Acceptable Use Policy, including content that sexually exploits children, threats, harassment, hate, non-consensual intimate images, spam and fraud. We act on reports, normally within 24 hours, and we may remove content we can access, restrict or suspend accounts, and report to authorities.

3. Your account and your keys

  • We send a verification code to your phone number to sign you in.
  • Your messages are protected by keys stored on your devices. We cannot recover your messages for you. If you lose all your devices and your backup passphrase or recovery key, your message history is gone.
  • If you change your phone number, update it in the app. Numbers get recycled: if you give up a number, the next owner may be able to sign up with it.
  • Keep your devices secure. Anyone who can unlock a linked device can read your chats on it.

4. Privacy and encryption

Your chats, calls and Snippets are end-to-end encrypted: we can't read them. Projects, tasks, bids and documents you share with a contractor are stored by us so both of you can see them, and are not end-to-end encrypted. The Privacy Policy explains what we can and cannot see, including the metadata we do have (who talks to whom, and when).

5. Your content

  • You keep ownership of what you send and post ("your content").
  • You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, transmit and display your content only as needed to operate Chat7 (for example, to deliver an encrypted message or show your profile). For end-to-end encrypted content, that means storing and delivering encrypted data we cannot read.
  • You are responsible for your content and must have the rights to share it.
  • When you report something, you give us permission to review the copy you send and to act on it as described in the Acceptable Use Policy.

6. Contractors, clients and subcontractors

Chat7 is a messenger for everyone. As an optional, secondary feature, it also lets homeowners and subcontractors communicate with contractors who use Northdesk. This section applies only if you use it that way.

  • Business chats with a contractor can be read by that contractor's current team members who handle these chats, including new team members, who can see the conversation's history.
  • Business data belongs to the contractor's records. Task details, the photos, files and notes you send when completing a task, bids you submit, and documents you share with a contractor become part of that contractor's records. They are not deleted when you delete your account, and the contractor's own policies govern them.
  • Your documents. Your insurance certificate and license are shared automatically with every contractor you are linked to unless you turn that off. A W-9 is shared only with contractors you explicitly choose. You are responsible for keeping your documents accurate and current; Chat7 reminds you before they expire but does not verify them.
  • We are not a party to any agreement between you and a contractor. We don't guarantee any contractor's or subcontractor's work, payment, licensing, insurance or conduct, and we are not responsible for disputes between you.
  • Records. Contractors cannot retrieve end-to-end encrypted chats from our servers. If you need a record of a conversation, keep your own copy on your device.

7. Dex (AI rundowns)

  • Dex is optional. If you turn it on, your device sends the text of the chats you choose to Anthropic's Claude AI to write a rundown for you. That text leaves end-to-end encryption for that request. See the Privacy Policy.
  • Members of your chats may use AI summaries. Any member can turn on Block AI summaries for a chat, and our apps respect that setting. We cannot stop a modified app or a screenshot.
  • You may only include chats you are a member of, and you must respect Block AI summaries.
  • AI output can be wrong or incomplete. Check important details in the chat itself. Don't rely on a rundown for safety, legal, medical or financial decisions. You can report a rundown in the app.
  • We may set usage limits.

8. Snippets

Snippets disappear after 24 hours, but anyone who can see them can take a screenshot or recording. Only share what you are comfortable with.

9. Licence to use the app

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Chat7 app on devices you own or control, under these terms and the rules of the app store you got it from. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer (except where the law allows it), resell, or build a competing service from Chat7, or access our servers other than through our apps.

10. App store terms

If you downloaded Chat7 from Apple's App Store:

  • These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Chat7 or its content.
  • Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support.
  • If Chat7 fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any). Apple has no other warranty obligation.
  • Apple is not responsible for claims relating to Chat7, including product liability, legal or regulatory compliance, consumer protection, or intellectual property claims.
  • You confirm you are not in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated a "terrorist supporting" country, and you are not on a US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

Google Play's terms also apply if you got Chat7 from Google Play.

11. Fees

Chat7 is free. We may offer optional paid features in the future; we will show their price and terms before you buy.

12. Third-party services

Chat7 relies on service providers (listed in the Privacy Policy). Links, files or content from other people or websites are not ours, and we are not responsible for them.

13. Copyright complaints (DMCA)

If you believe content on Chat7 infringes your copyright, send a notice to our designated agent: [DMCA AGENT NAME], Managed Softwares LLC, [POSTAL ADDRESS], [DMCA EMAIL]. Because chats are end-to-end encrypted, we can act only on content we can access (such as profiles, company Snippets and reported content). We terminate repeat infringers in appropriate circumstances.

14. Suspension and termination

  • You can stop using Chat7 and delete your account at any time.
  • We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, if required by law, or to protect users or the service. Where it's safe and lawful, we'll tell you why and how to appeal (support@getchat7.com).
  • Sections that by their nature should survive (for example 5, 6, 15–19) survive termination.

15. Disclaimers

Chat7 is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise that Chat7 will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that messages will always be delivered. Chat7 is not for emergency calls and doesn't connect to 911.

16. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or lost data, profits or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim relating to Chat7 is limited to the greater of US$100 or what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

17. Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify us against claims arising from your content or your breach of these terms, to the extent the law allows.

18. Disputes and governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [STATE], USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

19. Changes

We may update these terms. If a change matters, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Chat7 after that means you accept the new terms.
